PASAJE SANTA MARTA
OTROS RELATOS POSIBLES
NEUMA
In 2016 we did a residency at Nave, (Pasaje Santa Marta) that consisted in the creation of an archive about the housing history of the ground where Nave is emplaced today; this was made by interviews that we did to different persons that lived there - including Paulina Vielma (performer of the project), who once lived in a room that existed there, as well as the workers of Nave that inhabit the space on a daily basis.
In 2018, Nave invited us to give continuity to the residency of 2016, that’s how Other Possible Stories emerges: this residency started with the visit of three professional mediums that made a lecture to some of the spaces of Nave; the aim of this invitation was to gather stories that came from ghostly sources, that’s to say, of voices that emerge without a present body, or at least not visible to most of the people.
With the archive material (sound and writing) of both residencies gathered, we started a creative process that ended with an open showing, from which we would like to deepen and expand towards the creation of a performance. We are looking for alliances with residencies and creative spaces.
The main ideas and concepts that have moved this investigation/creation have to do with:
The performer as the figure of a medium: To experiment based on the idea that the body can inhabit and give account of other corporalities and subjectivities, without getting out of the performing structure of a solo.

The movement as an appearance: how movement is presented, appears, is inhabited and then disappears from the body of the performer, homologating it to the idea of how voices, images etc, appear and disappear in the work of a medium.
The emergence of the word: We use the written and oral word, playing with its evanescent possibility, as long as its intimately bonded to the body: an inside that produces air so that the word emerges outside. From within, we want to continue exploring a physical practice that deals with the breath.
Neuma is the name that we´ve decided for our next residency. This word in its greek root pneûma, means: “spirit”, blow, breath, all words that connect us with what we have done until now and with our actual interests.
Between the stillness of a body – the image of a body as an archeological finding – and the transit of the moving, we imagine Neuma as a piece that´s traversed by death, a pneúmon: lung that expands and contracts in something like an spectral dance.
